WINNIPEG, MB, CANADA - World Trade Center Seoul, headed by the South Korea’s former Prime Minister, Dr. Han Duck-Soo, and the World Trade Centre Winnipeg are strengthening free trade agreements via a new partnership.

“Since the free trade agreement signed on March 11, 2014 between the government of Canada and the Republic of Korea, we have been looking to develop concrete ties with the other side of the Pacific,” said Mariette Mulaire, President and CEO of the WTC Winnipeg. “Our efforts are paying off, and the WTC Seoul now sees us as a gateway to the Canadian marketplace.”

“This partnership with the WTC Winnipeg is especially important since the effective establishment of the free trade agreement between our two countries essentially depends on the business organizations,” said Han Duck-Soo.

The two organizations laid this cornerstone at the annual General Assembly of the World Trade Centers Association (WTCA) on April 30, in an historic milestone reflecting the WTC Winnipeg’s commitment to offer its Manitoba companies unique business opportunities.

This agreement is also a sign of the effective integration of the Winnipeg-based organization into the vast WTCA network in which it is emerging as a key player.

“This partnership is a springboard,” said Mulaire. “While the WTCA members are like one big family, it is important to expand our relationships and establish concrete connections. We therefore want to take things to the next level with the Republic of Korea, exploring our commonalities and combined potential.”

The WTC Winnipeg has already followed through on its commitment. Poised to host the Canadian Ambassador to Korea at the end of the month and determined to launch an exploratory mission in South Korea, the organization is a catalyst for international trade.

“Trade missions have always been an effective way to pursue new business opportunities,” said Han Duck-Soo. “I therefore want to use our unique connection with the WTC Winnipeg to extend a warm invitation to Manitoba businesses to come and discover WTC Seoul.
