TOKYO, JAPAN - The Director of Office of the National Economic & Social Development Board of Thailand spoke at WTC Tokyo Symposium. The “Asian Symposium” was co-hosted by WTC Tokyo, Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) and Cabinet Office of Government of Japan on at the conference center of WTC Building. The event received support from WTC Building and Royal Thai Embassy. The speaker of the Symposium was Mr. Porametee Vimolsiri, Director of Office of the National Economic & Social Development Board of Thailand and the title of his speech was “ASEAN Community & Prospect of Thai economy”. Almost 120 people attended this symposium.
The contents of the lecture are as follows;
Thai economy (GDP) grew by 3.7% during Jan.-Sept. 2013 and the inflation rate was 2.2% in 2013. The economy has slowed down due to slack in domestic demand and high import cost, but it is in a very stable situation. Economic growth prospect for 2014 is 4.0~5.0% by government forecast.
ASEAN will integrate into ASEAN Community based on the ASEAN Charter by 2015. Key characteristics and commitment of ASEAN Community is expressed as Single market & production base, Competitive economic region, Equitable economic development and Integration to the Global Economy.
