WTC Moscow program partner Nat. Oil & Gas Forum

Sep 03, 2014

MOSCOW, RUSSIA- The organizers of the National Oil and Gas Forum met with the Director General and senior executives of the World Trade Center Moscow, the traditional platform for the forum (in 2014, the Forum will be held from October 22 to 24, at the WTC Moscow Congress Center). During the meeting, the parties reached an agreement that this year the WTC Moscow will be the Program Partner to the conference.

The program of the forum will undergo changes this year – it will be enlarged. In particular, a few round-table discussions will take place, on the WTO-related matters and on the standards in energy industries. In the former case, the discussion will focus on the matters related to the use of WTO instruments for removal of barriers to Russian exports, specific aspects of the dispute settlement procedure within the World Trade Organization, and Russia’s participation in pending disputes. As a separate matter, the attendees will discuss the dispute on the 3rd energy package, in which international lawyers and representatives of the European Union will take part.

“Our collaboration with the Organizing Committee of the National Oil and Gas Forum has entered a new level. As program partners, we have agreed to raise new issues for the forum and include them in the discussion program. I’m talking about the impact of Russia’s membership in the WTO on domestic businesses, and their development strategy. A common challenge for everyone is to raise competitive edge of the economy as a whole, and efficiency of every individual company in particular. One element of the strategy towards better efficiency is correct application of WTO tools, including WTO’s dispute settlement procedures,” remarked WTC Moscow Director General Vladimir Salamatov.
