August 4-7 the WTC Arkansas participated in the U.S. African Leaders Summit held in Washington D.C. The Corporate Council on Africa hosted 27+ meetings with several countries from the vast continent. The targeted business sectors during the conference were energy, health, and agriculture. New growth sectors included banking and technology, micro farming and equipment distribution, infrastructure construction and telecommunications. There was discussion regarding education and career opportunities for women to break the cycle of poverty and hunger. Arkansas has been working with Nigeria, Kenya, Cameroon and Ghana to assist companies in developing relationships and future business partners. Africa is open for business!
