Interview to Ale and Luca, Management Team WTC.

January 16, 2018 - 1. What is the concept behind the World Trade Center Malpensa Airport and what are the main fields of operations?"The concept of the World Trade Centers in the world is to be globally connected but also to develop at a local scale personalized services and needs for clients. Our Malpensa Business Center was initially created with an international scope, open to potential clients looking for efficiency and innovation".2. How has your business evolved from the economic crisis to the beginning of the recovery?"The crisis has had a strong impact on all sectors, from Commerce to Logistics and the Real Estate market has inevitably been affected too. We have learned to be more flexible to meet our clients’ needs and to know how to catch new opportunities like the typical ‘Dutch approach".3. Where are you located and which are the strategic advantages that you can drive from?"We are located only 2 kms away from the International Airport of Malpensa and very close to the A4 motorway entrance which are the two essential conditions making us the only logistics hub in Northern Italy able to offer such a strategic proximity whether by air or by road. These geographical advantages add up to a flexible space management, fully personalizable, for offices as well as warehouses, with the most evolved goods handling capabilities".4. A glimpse into the past and future: who were your clients and who are the new ones?"Logistics has been our core business since the very beginning. Delivery Industry giants, such as global couriers Fedex and DHL, stand out as our biggest clients thanks to the airport’s proximity as well as the wide range of services associated that we are able to offer. The Business Center, i.e. dedicated office spaces, is altogether brand new and represents our leading offer to develop international business, from a range of high standard scalable solutions to affordable cheaper prices, combining convenience, efficiency, innovation and an amazing go-green setting such as the Parco del Ticino. Our offices and meeting rooms, modular and divisible, adapt to last-minute necessity in response to today’s fast-paced working environment".5. What are the most interesting trends in your field? Why do your clients need your services?"This year’s trends have been Art, Fashion, Research, E-commerce showing that not only logistics but all international commercial sectors needed to travel and be hosted in modern and efficient spaces. Our client base has evolved over time, touching activity fields which were before only limited to metropolitain areas, but no longer able to answer today’s business needs, space, services or integrated solutions related. For this reason, the data collected from the last survey on the satisfaction level of the businesses operating in our Business Center is encouraging: not only services such as Corporate Gym, reserved parking places, airport shuttle, bar and restaurants, commercial conventions appear to be instrumental but also lots of custom-made solutions able to answer the most particular need, which facilitate our clients’ everyday life" Read More

Stefano Borgonovo honoured by Johan Cruyff

November 10, 2014 - Today the Johan Cruyff Foundation opened a Cruyff Court in memory of Stefano Borgonovo in Como, Italy. If Stefano Borgonovo was still alive today he would describe himself as the happiest man on earth. Not just because he would finally come to know the man he admired when he was a kid, but also because the idol of his childhood is going to open up a Cruyff Court in town where Stefano celebrated his first triumphs as a professional player. The legendary number 14 of the Netherlands and playmaker of Ajax and Barcelona of the Seventies and Eighties was in Como to inaugurate the first Cruyff Court in Italy, dedicated to Stefano. One and a half year ago, former Milan and Fiorentina striker Borgonovo, who won the Champions League with Milan and earned three caps for the Italian national team, died aged 49 following an eight-year battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Scelerosis (ALS), better known as Lou Gehrig's disease. politicians screw beautiful country

October 6, 2014 - Matteo Renzi's plan to abolish Italian Senate runs into almost 8,000 amendments.Senators are deliberately bombing attempts to clean up political spaghetti, and debated only three of them on day one. Asking senators to vote for their own abolition was always going to be a tough mission – even for the ever-confident Matteo Renzi. So it is hardly surprising that the Italian prime minister's flagship reform bill – on which he has staked his career – has run into a few problems in the upper house of parliament – 7,850 of them, to be precise. Opponents to the proposals – which would see the senate stripped of many of its powers and become a much smaller, unelected regional chamber – have tabled nearly 8,000 amendments which they want debated before the upper house moves to a first reading vote. As long as these people populate parliament, it is not going to happen here... a bl.... shame Read More

100.000 flights per day

August 13, 2014 - Montreal – The International Air Transport Association (IATA) published the 58th edition of the World Air Transport Statistics (WATS), a leading yearbook of the airline industry’s annual performance containing extensive statistical information and analysis. “Commercial aviation began 100 years ago with a single airplane, a single passenger and a single route. Last year, as recorded in the WATS, the industry carried more than 3 billion passengers and nearly 48 million tonnes of cargo on nearly 100,000 flights per day, while the real price of air travel fell by 7.4%. Aviation’s annual contribution exceeds even these impressive figures. Its global economic impact is estimated at $2.4 trillion and it supports 3.4% of global GDP. By value, over a third of goods traded internationally are delivered by air and some 58.1 million jobs are supported by aviation,” said Tony Tyler, IATA’s Director General and CEO. Read More

What do we know about who died and where they were killed? According to figures from the UN's Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), up to 6 August, 1,890 Palestinians had lost their lives in the conflict.Among the dead were 414 children and 87 men and women over the age of 60. What to do with disused airports?

August 11, 2014 - New terminals are cropping up all over the world at a stratospheric rate– but what happens to the ones that are no longer useful? Jonathan Glancey investigates. It is hard to predict quite what commercial flight will be like in future decades, yet we can be sure that many of today’s ambitious new airport terminals, some designed by the world’s most highly rated architects and engineers, will be redundant faster than you can say Concorde. Because so many more of us want to fly each year, ever further, more frequently and as cheaply as possible, aircraft and airports are multiplying at a stratospheric rate. Airport terminals, however, are big, highly specialised and costly buildings. Are they doomed to be demolished as numbers multiply or can new uses be found for them? Much, it appears, turns on just how big they are. Read More
