India-Poland: $3 Billion Airport Opportunity

World Trade Center Mumbai organized an interactive meeting with Mr. Karol Halicki, President of the Podlaskie Chamber of Aviation, to invite Indian investors and strategic partners for the proposed $3 billion green airport project in Podlaskie, Eastern Poland.

Mr. Mateusz Reszczyk, Consul of the Republic of Poland in Mumbai highlighted the significant growth in Poland-India relations, emphasizing joint ventures, growing student exchanges, and streamlined visa processes. He described the proposed eco-friendly airport as a strategic hub connecting Asia and Europe, inviting Indian companies to invest.

In his remarks, Mr. Karol Halicki outlined the project’s connection to key rail corridors and its capacity to handle growing air cargo and passenger traffic.

Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Bernard Huber, Board Representative with French countries, Podlaskie Chamber of Aviation emphasized the airport’s potential as Asia's gateway to Europe, citing its strategic location, robust connectivity, and cost efficiency.

In his welcome address, Dr. Vijay Kalantri, Chairman, WTC Mumbai, highlighted India’s strengthened ties with Poland, citing the Prime Minister’s recent visit and a five-year Action Plan to deepen collaboration across various sectors. He recalled leading a 178-member trade delegation, the largest from India to any country, which resulted in 12 Indian companies establishing operations in Poland. Dr. Kalantri also noted bilateral trade growth from $0.7 billion to $5.7 billion, with significant untapped potential.

The event included the signing of an MoU between WTC Mumbai and the Podlaskie Chamber of Aviation to enhance trade, investment, and technology exchange. It was attended by investors, academics, and industry leaders, with Ms. Rupa Naik, Executive Director, WTC Mumbai delivering the vote of thanks, expressing optimism for stronger India-Poland economic partnerships.
