WTC BDNC PARTNERS HCMC RETAIL GROWTH DIALOGUE

Jul 14, 2025

On July 11, under the direction of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, the HCMC Department of Industry and Trade and Tuoi Tre newspaper hosted a high-level dialogue titled: "Urban Growth of Ho Chi Minh City – Driven by Supply Chain and Retail Development." The event attracted leading experts, businesses, industry associations, and retailers from both Vietnam and abroad.

WTC Binh Duong New City (WTC BDNC) was proud to partner in this strategic dialogue, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable regional integration in trade, logistics, and urban commercial development across the Southern Key Economic Region.

The dialogue marked a timely response to HCMC's recent administrative expansion through the merger with Binh Duong and Ba Ria Vung Tau. This transformation positions the city as a multi-centered mega-region with over 14 million people—on par with other major Asian cities like Shanghai, Singapore and Bangkok.

The new urban configuration combines HCMC’s financial and retail strength with Binh Duong’s industrial base and Ba Ria Vung Tau’s deep-sea port infrastructure. This integrated model—“One City – Three Core Zones”—aims to optimize value chains from production to logistics and consumption.

Key themes of the dialogue included:

  • The commercial positioning of HCMC post-merger;
  • Consumer data and retail trends in the new mega-region;
  • Restructuring traditional retail channels;
  • Planning trade fairs and exhibitions in new urban spaces;
  • Building modern commodity trading platforms.

Experts also emphasized the need to modernize logistics infrastructure, integrate transport systems, expand e-commerce ecosystems, and develop urban areas that combine retail, logistics, and exhibition functions—creating an advanced platform for trade promotion and consumer engagement.

Through its partnership, WTC BDNC reaffirms its role in supporting cross-sector collaboration, boosting trade facilitation, and promoting sustainable growth in supply chains, logistics, and integrated urban commerce.
