Dr. Antonio Trueba is the founder of both Centers and principal shareholder. He was elected WTCA Board Member in 1992 and served as Chairman of the World Trade Centers Association from 1998-2000. He is currently Vice Chairman and Secretary of the WTCA.
Dr. Trueba has been active in the WTCA since 1981, when Madrid first became a member.
He currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee as well as standing on the Committee on Planning and Finance.
Since 1988, he has been dedicated to fostering and developing the World Trade Center concept in Spain by founding and participating in several WTC projects including WTC Barcelona, WTC Bilbao, WTC Mallorca, WTC Vigo, WTC Santander, WTC Valencia and WTC Cordoba.
Dr. Trueba was also the founder of the Sevilla, Barcelona and Bilbao Teleports, all members of the World Teleport Association (WTA) and was a Board Member of the WTA from 1992 until 1996.
From 1994 to 2006, Dr. Trueba was Chairman of Urbis, the listed Real Estate Corporation of the Santander Banking Group.
Dr. Trueba has a PhD in Physics and has studied extensively in Spain, France and the USA.
Dr. Trueba’s professional career includes the following positions:
• 1964 – 1968 Associate Professor, University of Madrid, concurrently Professor of Physics at the Technical College of Telecommunications Engineers and Naval Engineers.
• 1968 – 1974 Associate Professor of Solid State Physics, University of Madrid, Senior Research Fellow.
• 1974 – 1979 Managing Director, Real Estate and Property Division, Bank of Granada Group.
• 1979 – 1988 Managing Director, Real estate, Tourism and Property Division of the Union Explosivos Rio Tinto Group, as well as Chairman of the Investment Committee of the Rio Tinto Holding Group.
• 1988 – present Chairman and CEO, World Trade Center Madrid and Chairman of WTC Sevilla.
• 1990 – present Chairman of EFYASA (citrus fruit cultivation).
• 1990 – 1993 Chairman of ADP 93 (project for the reutilization of the EXPO 92 site, with over 30 national and international corporations involved).
• 1990 – 2000 Board Member of WTC Mallorca and WTC Lisbon.
• 1994 – present Board Member of WTC Santander.
• 1994 – 2006 Chairman of Inmobiliaria Urbis, S.A., Real Estate Corporation of the Santander Banking Group.
• 2005 – 2012 Trustee of CODESPA (NGO)
• 2006 – 2008 Vice Chairman of Grupo San José (real estate development).
• 2006 – present Chairman of the Masfamilia Foundation, which focuses on balancing work and family life.
• 2006 – present Chairman of Solaris 2006 (solar energy development).
• 2009 – present Board Member of GECINA, the French real estate company.
• 2013 - present Chairman of FIMA, International Applied Medicine Foundation (University of Navarra), the international research center where advanced research is carried on heart disease, Alzheimer’s, biotherapy and particular cancer studies.
• 2013 – present Board Member of SAREB (Spanish Company for the Management of Assets proceeding from the Restructuring of the Banking System.)
