Protocol & Diplomacy International-Protocol Officers Association (PDI-POA) offers a series of protocol training workshops throughout the year to continue its mission of providing educational and networking opportunities for its members and colleagues in the protocol field. In this tradition, and in an effort to engage the DC-based protocol community ahead of the 2014 International Protocol Education Forum in Washington this August, PDI-POA is hosting this protocol training workshop.
This workshop will feature two educational sessions for protocol and international affairs professionals in the DC area. Chris Young, President of PDI-POA, will lead an interactive session designed to reintroduce the basics of protocol, including managing official visits (and how to avoid blunders during said visits) as well as the origins of some of the “rules” of protocol and cultural etiquette training. The second session will consist of a panel moderated by PDI-POA's own Leslie Lautenslager and will feature executive assistants, schedulers, and personal aides—professionals who “have their principal’s ear.” As a veteran protocol officer and having served as an executive assistant herself, Leslie, along with the panelists, will highlight some of the most important things to consider and to prepare for when dealing with principals.
Whether you come from the public, private, military, or diplomatic sector, this workshop will provide you with valuable tools that will strengthen your protocol competencies and enrich your professional expertise.
