To prosper and thrive in emerging markets, executives need to successfully negotiate the distinctive history, culture, and institutions that prevail in these contexts. Addressing the challenges requires more than simple understanding of etiquette, language, and a short list of do’s and don’ts. At the fourth Emerging Markets Forum, participants will hear from some of the world’s leading scholars on the subject of how culture, history and institutions shape the business environment. A particular emphasis of the conference is on the Islamic World. Participants will gain critical insights on doing business in the Middle East and elsewhere in the Islamic World. Discussions at the conference are intended to contribute to a more constructive engagement – commercial as well as social – with this quarter of the world’s population.
