MUMBAI, INDIA - On 2 May 2014, Mr. Sharad Upasani, Vice Chairman-WTC Mumbai, Mr. Y.R. Warerkar, Executive Director-WTC Mumbai, Mr. Firoze B. Andhyarujina, Tax Advisor-WTC Mumbai and Mr. Ajay Khatlawalla, Legal Advisor-WTC Mumbai visited WTC Pilsen. The delegation was warmly received by Mr.Martin Zrzavecky, Dy. Mayor, Pilsen and Ms. Eva Brejchova.
Mr. Upasani gave information in brief about the activities and facilities available at WTC Mumbai. He further informed that WTC, Mumbai was taking steps to start new WTCs in India, at Bhubaneswar, Jaipur and Goa. He also informed of forthcoming Global Economic Summit in September, along with World TF Assembly. Mr. Zrzavecky explained the Pilsen WTC model in great detail. This was a novel model where the local municipality is the owner and main participant of the World Trade Centre, and all the services of city administration including development of infrastructure, setting up of science and innovation parks and industrial estates were available to WTC. The WTC has only a small office with only one employee. At present the WTCs main work is to coordinate with different agencies as to provide trade related services to investors.
Mr, Martin Zrzavecky, Dy. Mayor informed about the activities conducted by WTC Pilsen such as creation of new companies (business planning, incubation, network of experts), helping existing innovative companies - interface between the needs and resources (finance, technologies, experts, business contacts) and promotion of innovation / entrepreneurship (University of West Bohemia).
He also informed that Pilsen is selected as Cultural Capital of Europe for 2015. The city is organizing various activities in 2015 as they expect large number of visitors from all over Europe.
