The project booth of Kunming World Trade Center (WTC) was officially opened on June 5 in the hall of Kai Wah Plaza International Hotel before the commencement of China-South Asia Expo. This was the debut of the project. During the China-South Asia Expo, the booth received hundreds of visitors, including lots of foreign visitors from South Asia and Southeast Asia. The project drew a lot of attention from the market and it was very popular.

The foundation for Kunming World Trade Center Project was laid in November, 2012 and the construction is expected to be completed in 2016 for use. Total investment made in the Project is about RMB 1.8 billion. Land area of 14 mu is occupied with the construction area being about 160,000 m2 and the building height being 249m (55 floors in total).The Project is designed jointly by Callison from US and Shenzhen Institute of Architectural Design and Research. Upon completion, Kunming World Trade Center which is doomed to be a landmark building of Kunming with “World-Class Quality”, together with Kai Wah Plaza International Hotel, Kunming Hongta Mansion and Golden Dragon Hotel will constitute a top-grade urban complex of a comparatively large volume in the south of Kunming, combining the high-end commerce, five-star hotels, 5A-class office buildings and catering reception as a whole.

As a district, municipal and provincial key project, governments at all levels pay much attention to it and strongly support it. After completion, the project will be an exchange platform for serving Yunnan’s economic development and for Yunnan reaching out to Southeast Asia, South Asia and the whole world, and it will become a commercial platform for enterprises going out and coming in.
