Engineering News-Record ranking shows industry leadership in critical human infrastructure. Black & Veatch is the top U.S. engineering and design company for telecommunications projects in 2011, according to a just-released study by Engineering News-Record (ENR). This is the third consecutive year that Black & Veatch has achieved the number one ranking in telecommunications.
In ENR’s Top 500 Rankings, Black & Veatch is also ranked 2nd in power, 7th in water and 8th in sewer/wastewater. The company is ranked 14th overall on the Top 500 list, up from 16th the previous year. Also, for 2011, the Federal Times ranks Black & Veatch the No. 5 architect-engineer in providing services to the U.S. Government.
The many successes in 2011 have further strengthened Black & Veatch’s position as the leading brand in critical human infrastructure. The company’s global business lines saw rising market demand in 2011, and there was an increase in expanded scope delivery, where the company takes overall responsibility for large, complex infrastructure programs in energy, water and telecommunications.
To meet the demand for its services, employment increased 13 percent in 2011 to more than 9,000. Black & Veatch’s overall business growth has resulted in a need for additional professionals, especially in engineering and technical-related fields. The company is hiring in many of its 100 locations worldwide, including more than 1,000 job openings in the U.S. with about 500 in the Kansas City Metro area.
“We are in a strong position to continue our growth in 2012,” said Len Rodman, Chairman, President and CEO. “The need is increasing for the critical human infrastructure that we provide globally. This includes energy, water, telecommunications and security.”
