World Trade Center Kansas City Hosts South African Ambassador on October 18

South Africa’s Ambassador to the United States Ebrahim Rasool is the featured speaker as the World Trade Center Kansas City presents a morning session on how to do business in South Africa – the largest economy on the African continent.

In fact, South Africa is often referred to as the “gateway” to Africa as a whole and accounts for 24 percent of Africa’s total GDP. We invite regional companies currently doing business in Continental Africa or wanting to expand in this world region to attend. Industry sectors in South Africa include mining, agriculture, food processing, vehicle manufacturing and assembly, and telecommunications. Major imports include motor vehicles and parts, computers and office equipment, and refined petroleum products. There are many potential opportunities between the rapidly-growing South African economy and that of the Midwest United States.

Ambassador Rasool brings extensive knowledge of the South African economy thanks to years of service in that nation’s government in the areas of health, welfare, finance, and economic development. He was awarded the Nelson Mandela Award for Health and Human Rights by the Kaiser Foundation in 1998.
