BANGALORE, INDIA - The Canadian Consulate office has moved into WTC Bangalore. The office was inaugurated by Their Excellencies, the Right Honorable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada and Mrs. Sarah Johnston on 26th February, 2014. They were accompanied by senior members of the Canadian diplomatic corps and a high level business delegation from Canada. The Consulate General office in Bangalore is Canada’s largest diplomatic mission in India after New Delhi.

Speaking on the ocassion after the inauguration, Mr. Johnston said Canada decided to establish a large mission in Bangalore in view of the “thriving nature” of the city, which he said was very important for India-Canada relations to progress. The High Commissioner of Canada in India Stewart Beck, accompanying him, said “Bangalore was more geographically centrally located to cater to south Indian States, including Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh among others”.
