This is the first socio-economic infographic of Ho Chi Minh City after its merger with Binh Duong and Ba Ria–Vung Tau provinces (effective from July 1st, 2025), forming a unified metropolitan region with 168 commune-level administrative units. With a population of nearly 14 million, accounting for 13.4% of the country, the region contributes 23% of national GRDP, 40% of state budget revenue, and 23.1% of import–export turnover, while enterprises in the area represent 30.6% of the total nationwide. Its per capita GRDP is nearly 1.8 times the national average, confirming its role as a key economic hub, financial and logistics center, and science–technology hub of Vietnam.
In this context, the municipal authorities have focused on implementing solutions to improve administrative services, enhance economic resilience, and carry out strategic development programs. By the end of July 2025, despite many challenges, the socio-economic situation of the city–region remained stable, with the following key results.
